Ban, UNSC condemn deadly terrorist attacks in Paris

TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (MNA) – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the UN Security Council have strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out Fri. in various locations in Paris, leaving at least 153 dead.

The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the barbaric and cowardly terrorist attacks which took place in several places in Paris on the evening of the 13th of November 2015, causing numerous deaths and injuries among civilians. 

The members of the Security Council expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Government of France. 

The members of the Security Council underlined the need to bring the perpetrators of these terrorist acts to justice. They also expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Government of France, the statement concluded.

In a separate statement, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also strongly condemned what he called 'despicable' multiple attacks that took place in the French capital.

“The Secretary-General trusts that the French authorities will do all in their power to bring the perpetrators to justice quickly,” said the statement.

Extending his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured, Mr. Ban said in his statement that he stands with the Government and people of France.

France was rocked by multiple, near simultaneous attacks on entertainment sites around Paris yesterday evening that killed at least 153 people and hostages being held in a concert hall.

Followign the waves of attacks, French President Francois Hollande declared a state of emergency and announced that he was closing the country’s borders. He also cancelled his visit to the G20 summit in Turkey.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
